A traveling theater company, to shelter from the rain, asks for hospitality at the castle of Sigognac in Gascony. In the manor Baron Sigognac lives, a young spoiled and afraid, and his old nanny. The actors, who have come to know of the death of the parents of the Baron, they decide to take him with them to Paris by his uncle, a great friend of the king, who in return would show the company at the royal court. Pulcinella receives 100 shields by the servant of Sigognac because he lead him with them, and with that money to help him. So the adventure of Baron and theater company begins in which the noble first discovers his love for a young actress and then a passion for acting, finally deciding to take a permanent place of one of the actors died during the trip in the role of Captain Fracassa. Instead, her love will be unfortunate because the young will eventually clash in a duel with an opponent, then seriously injured. Pulcinella called a distinguished surgeon and cause the high compensation he is forced to sacrifice 100 gold crowns. Once the Baron is healed, all take up the journey to Paris. Armando Trovajoli wrote one of his most beautiful OST's long association with director Scola, based on Baroque music that gives the right color to the story, between court dances and a recurring delicate love theme. For this new CD edition the master tape with the album mock-up, containing all the music score recorded at that time, has been used from which minor faults pre-existing in the source have been eliminated and digitally remastered. The booklet is enriched with a gallery of archive stills.
