Le avventure di Pinocchio

The adventure of Pinocchio, the novel written by Carlo Collodi by the end of the 19th century is one of the most famous tale of all time to which Luigi Comencini gave homage with an extraordinary movie in 1972. Initially born as a TV series, the movie has been transposed in a teathrical version thank to the great success of the TV series. A wonderful cast, from Nino Manfredi to Gina Lollobrigida, from Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia to Vittorio De Sica. The unforgettable score directed by Bruno Nicolai has been composed by Maestro Fiorenzo Carpi De Resmini, together with Giorgio Strehler and Paolo Grassi founder of Piccolo Teatro di Milano and author of a lot of music for teathre and cinema, both in Italy and abroad: INCOMPRESO, MARCELLINO PANE E VINO, PARIGI O CARA, just to name few.

The popular score has some of the most famous themes in the world still alive in the memory of everybody thank also to a lot of re interpretations through pop and dance remixes, or even world music: "il tema di lucignolo" (main titles), "il tema di Pinocchio" or "Birichinata" (end titles of the various episodes), "il tema di Geppetto", "il tema della Fata Turchina" or "tre per tre", also this one adapted in order to be a vocal cue. On occasion of the 40th aniversary of LE AVVENTURE DI PINOCCHIO, Sugar will issue on 5th June the score newly remastered with a new artwork, in his new series of 30 titles dedicated to soundtracks that have made the history of film music.

 All the title of the series have been enriched with a text by Marco Muller, movie producer, critic and director of the most important film festival. He affirms: Cinema is the place where music becomes something different, carving for itself a specific role within a whole where it is as important as visual composition, editing , time and movement. Without music cinema would lose one essential element of its nature. Whenever important musicians have worked with important film-directors their strong individual personalities have always struck a balance where great music made a great film stronger and vice versa. These adventurous stories of Italian (and not only Italian) cinema are the subject of this well-thought re-proposition of the CAM catalogue. A selection of its greatest titles offering the opportunity to divert from a concert program of modernist music, or an alternative to light pop, to venture into a new continent just waiting to be (re-)discovered.
