Contrasti - Ialsax quartet

Ialsax Quartet’s firs recording, contains eight original works and one transcription. Listening to the nine compositions on this CD, one travels along the route that faithfully reflects what we think about the saxophone: a creature whose habits are rather obscure and feeds on anything that is musically edible. In a society which more and more resembles a "global village" where information moves ever more rapidly and migration helps eliminate cultural barriers, producing every type of contrast, the stylistic coherencies of some musical proposals seem to oppose the fragmentation and recomposition that we are destined to undergo. The saxophone, however, with its chamaleon-like nature, doesn’t suffer these dilemmas and continues to wind it’s way through a Pavane and Rock ’n roll, a Blues fugue and a reminder of the earliest polyphony, between a Tarantella and the famous Adagio from Mahler’s fifth symphony.
