VINCERE” (aka “To win”) is the latest movie written and directed by Marco Bellocchio and starring Giovanna Mezzogiorno and Filippo Timi . The movie has been the only Italian movie participating at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. He was the most prized movie at the 2010 David di Donatello, winning eight prizes on fifteen nominations, among them as best directing, but it did not win as the best film, conquered by “L'uomo che verrà” and in 2009 it has won four Silver Ribbon prizes: Best leading actress (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), best photography,best editing and best set design. Filippo Timi is Benito Mussolini, Giovanna Mezzogiorno is Ida Dalser , the plot is around Benito Albino Dalser, the son who the dux had from the woman and the facts begin since the year in which Mussolini did know Ida Dalser until the year the boy is locked in an asylum. The movie tells about the tormented love and not corresponded love from Ida to the young Mussolini, who first takes a fancy to her and later repudiates her, making to intern her in the asylum too, because a too intrusive and embarrassing person. Some of the plot also tells about Rachele Guidi (Michela Cescon), wife of Mussolini from 1916 and about how much the relationship with miss Dalser could have weigh upon on their private life. The score (one of the five finalist nominations at David di Donatello 2010) is written by prestigious Carlo Crivelli,one of the best Italian musicians for Cinema who has penned several scores like Il Diavolo in corpo, La visione del sabba,Il sogno della farfalla,Il principe di Homburg, Del perduto amore, La balia by Marco Bellocchio,Un viaggio chiamato amore by Michele Placido,Appuntamento a Liverpool by Marco Tullio Giordana, Le affinità elettive by Taviani brothers, La guerra dei fiori rossi by Zhang Yuan, Il 7 e l'8 by Ficarra e Picone e Giambattista Avellino,Matrimoni ed altri disastri by Nina Di Majo.
